Catherine Zeta-Jones is planning to make a movie about Bipolar Disorder

CATHERINE Zeta-Jones is planning to make a movie about mental illness.
The Welsh actress is being encouraged to raise awareness of bipolar disorder in a documentary.

“Catherine is very interested in the idea – both as a way of coming to terms with the condition and as a way of breaking down certain prejudices surrounding mental illness,” reveals a source close to the actress and husband Michael Douglas.

“Catherine has long had the intention of turning her hand to film making and this is something she feels passionate about.”
Recent reports claimed Catherine has officially joined the all-star cast of Rock of Ages, the big-screen adaptation of the hit, hard-rock Broadway musical.
“It’s a new character created just for the screen,” a source told Us Weekly magazine.
“She’s playing the mayor’s wife…Basically she’s the villain of the film. She wants to get rock and roll out of Los Angeles!

“Catherine is a hard-working actress, beautiful and talented. You never hear a bad word about her.
“And she won an Oscar for Chicago, a musical. This is perfect for her.”

Kristen Stewart slips into bikini to film love scenes with Robert Pattinson during night shoot

Nobody likes doing overtime.
But when Robert Pattinson was told that he had to re-shoot scenes for the final Twilight movie at the weekend, he probably yelped with joy.
The 24-year-old was flown to the Caribbean, for starters, and once there, his 'toil' consisted of filming love scenes with his real life girlfriend Kristen Stewart, 21.
It was all meticulously covert in a bid to prevent the hotly-anticipated scenes between their characters Edward Cullen and Bella Swan from being observed.

There was controversy last month when stills from their honeymoon scenes, and even a short video, found their way onto the internet.
It's widely believed that most of the steamy action, the stills showed the couple in bed, has already found it's way onto the cutting room floor after failing to meet the criteria for the PG-13 film.

And so, despite the cast thinking they'd wrapped up the franchise for good in Toronto last week, Pattinson and Stewart were asked to do more sex scenes.
And it's apt that the final scenes for Breaking Dawn were filmed right up to the break of dawn on the beach - 5am on Saturday morning to be exact - in St Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands.
Armed police patrolled the beach, while a police launch bobbed about in the sea, trying to ensure that no-one would get a glimpse of filming.

Stewart showed off her stunning figure in a bright green bikini, that was unfastened at the halter - perhaps suggesting that a topless scene was on the agenda.

Is Angelina Jolie the new face of Louis Vuitton? A-list star believed to have secured $10m modelling deal

It certainly pays to be one of the world's most beautiful women.
Angelina Jolie is believed to have signed a deal worth almost $10million to star as the new face of Louis Vuitton.
The campaign, which would be the 35-year-old's highest-paying commercial endorsement to date, would see her follow in the footsteps of Madonna and Jennifer Lopez.
The news was reported by E!, which claims that celebrity photographer Annie Leibowitz will shoot the campaign within the next two weeks.
It said that the resulting images would be unveiled in print later this summer.
If the rumours are true, the A-list star will succeed a high-profile trio of supermodels.
Freja Beha Erichsen, Raquel Zimmermann and Kristen McMenamy appear in Louis Vuitton's current spring 2011 ads.
Prior campaigns have starred the likes of Madonna and Jennifer Lopez, while the label's Core Values series of advertisements, which support Al Gore's Climate Change project, boasts spokesmodels including Keith Richards, Catherine Deneuve and Sean Connery.
The Louis Vuitton campaign would not be Ms Jolie's first for a fashion brand, though, one hopes, it will be more successful.
She appeared in campaigns for St John from 2005 until last year, when brand bosses chose British supermodel Karen Elson to front the brand instead.
The label's chief executive Glenn McMahon told WWD that Ms Jolie 'overshadowed the brand'.
She explained: 'We wanted to make a clean break from actresses and steer away from blondes and cleanse the palette.'
Though Ms Jolie and partner Brad Pitt are parents to six children, three of which are adopted, she remains busy with both acting work and philanthropic commitments.

Emma Watson confirms she is transferring from Brown University... but denies it's because of 'bullying'

Emma Watson has confirmed she will be transferring from Brown University to another school this autumn.
The Harry Potter star's announcement comes just days after it was claimed the reason she put her studies on hold at the university was because she was taunted by her peers in class.
Watson's representative Vanessa Davies said the actress – who has a fortune estimated at £10million – had decided to pursue a course not offered at Brown, and  had 'absolutely loved' her time at the institution.
Davies also denied reports that Watson had been picked on at the Ivy League institution by fellow students.
Miss Watson is said to have been the subject of frequent jibes whenever she answered questions in lectures.

A source told the New York Daily News: ‘They would respond with a quote from Harry Potter. The most popular choice was, “Three points for Gryffindor!”’
Gryffindor is one of the competing houses at Hogwarts, the franchise’s school of wizardry. Miss Watson’s peers at the university in Rhode Island also shouted phrases from the film at her as she watched an American football game, it is alleged.

Miss Watson, who was studying European women’s history and drama, has admitted being ‘scared’ that she wouldn’t fit in when she arrived at the university in September 2009.
She said of her peers: ‘I was afraid they’d think, “You’re famous. You’re given free handbags. Why should you deserve to be normal?”’
Watson's peers also shouted phrases from the film at her as she watched an American football game, the newspaper reported.
Last month Watson, 21, announced she was putting her studies at the Providence, Rhode Island institution on hold.
'I will still be working towards my degree... it's just going to take me a semester or two longer than I thought,' she wrote on her website.

As you know, I love Brown and I love studying pretty much more than anything but recently I've had so much to juggle that being a student AND fulfilling my other commitments has become a little impossible.'Watson is now busy working on a number of fashion projects before she turns her attention to the promotion trail when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 is released in July.
Brown University is one of the top colleges in the United States, boasting alumni including former presidents, diplomats, royalty and a heavy sprinkling of celebrities' offspring.

It was number 1 for America's 'Happiest College Students', according to the Princeton Review 2010 rankings.

It has also been named 'the most fashionable school in the Ivy League' by the fashion trade journal Women's Wear Daily.

Watson achieved straight As in her A-levels before landing a place at the university.

Rachel Bilson shows off her impeccable bikini body in Barbados (and it's no wonder boyfriend Hayden Christenen can't take his eyes off her!)

Rachel Bilson made a jaw-dropping exit from the Caribbean sea today.
All eyes were on the 29-year-old actress, who looked exceptional in a black bikini whilst holidaying in Barbados.
Those included her boyfriend Hayden Christensen, who stayed close to his impeccably toned girlfriend in her skimpy two-piece.

The OC beauty has clearly been working out judging by her flat muscular stomach and slim legs.
A stunning natural beauty, Rachel went make-up free for the beach outing, simply tying her hair up in a loose bun.
Circling around her in the water, 30-year-old Hayden was clearly smitten with the smouldering brunette.

He later showed off a snippet of his own beach body in a pair of black board shorts as the couple dried off.
This is the second time in two weeks that Rachel and Hayden have been spotted together this week.
The on-again, off-again couple took a romantic bike ride around Beverly Hills together on Tuesday.
It was the first time that Hayden and Rachel have been spotted together for some time.
The couple first began dating in 2007, and became engaged a year later, but they've weathered several breakups and makeups since then.
The couple called off their engagement in August last year.
It came as reports emerged that the two actors were taking a break earlier in the year.
A representative for Bilson, who starred in The O.C., told People magazine: 'Yes, the engagement is off.

Work commitments meant the couple had been living separate lives, with Rachel based in Los Angeles, while Hayden was in Canada.
The distance between them was one of the main reasons for the split, a friend said.
'It just wasn't working out,' the friend told People, adding that Bilson was 'focusing on her career, spending time with her family and just moving forward.'
But three months later in November 2010, it appeared that the couple couldn't bear to be apart and reportedly started dating again.

And now they appear to be getting completely back on track.
Rachel and Hayden met on the set of Jumper in 2007, becoming engaged in December 2008.
They worked together once more in 2009, in one of 11 short films that made up New York, I Love You.
Bilson previously dated Adam Brody, her co-star on The O.C., for three years.
Since leaving the show she has moved into film, and was seen earlier this year in Waiting For Forever opposite Tom Sturridge.

Catherine Zeta-Jones In 'Rock Of Ages': Star Making Film Comeback

Catherine Zeta-Jones is making her big screen comeback in a big way.
The star, who recently entered treatment for bipolar disorder, has been cast in the Hollywood adaptation of "Rock of Ages," director Adam Shankman told The Hollywood Reporter. She'll play the film's villain, a new role invented just for the big screen version.
“It’s a character that we only really came to in the last month,” said Shankman. “The character was invented to streamline the stories... She is this hardcore, moral majority, arch-conservative who wants to shut down rock ’n' roll in the great city of Los Angeles."
Shankman told E! Online that she'll be singing at least two songs: Pat Benatar's "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" and Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It."
Zeta-Jones is just the latest bonafide star to sign up for the 80's-set homage to grungy rock clubs and hair metal. Tom Cruise this winter was cast to play megastar Stacee Jaxx, Alec Baldwin will play rock club owner Dennis Dupree, Julianne Hough will play the young, naive singer new to LA and Russell Brand was just cast as Lonny, a rock venue owner and the film's narrator.
Opening up about her struggle with bipolar disorder, Zeta-Jones spoke to People Magazine about her choice to seek treatment.
"This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them," she said. "If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help."
Shankman said he knew about her decision to seek treatment before he decided on casting her, and that it was not a roadblock at all.
"While we were talking to her representatives about doing it, she told us that was about to happen," Shankman told E!. "I had a long talk with her about it and she's in the greatest space and spirits. We've worked together on numerous benefits and we have a great working relationship.

'Water For Elephants' Sex Scene: Robert Pattinson Says He Cried (VIDEO)

Robert Pattinson wants to make one thing clear: those weren't snot sniffles during his "Water For Elephants" sex scene. He was just truly emotional.
Extra caught up with Pattinson and his "Elephants" co-star Reese Witherspoon at the film's Sunday premiere, and Witherspoon did her best to disavow her earlier comments that her on-screen forbidden lover was suffering from a disgusting cold during their big love scene.
"I mean, sexy doesn't cover it. I don't know how we got this rating, that's all I'm gonna say," Witherspoon deadpanned. Pattinson took it a step further. "I was actually crying at how sexy Reese was in the scene."
"It's true, I was making a coverup for him," Witherspoon jokingly admitted.
"She thought it was embarrassing for me to be crying, but I think it's more embarrassing to be sniffing. I'm totally okay with crying at her beauty."
Speaking to In Touch Magazine, Witherspoon originally said, "Rob possibly had the most hideous horrible cold of any co-star I've ever had to do a love scene with ever in my entire life. He was literally snorting and snotting through every second of it - and it was not appealing. I'm talking green, infectious, disgusting - I'm not kidding!"
In the unlikely event that the crying excuse is true, it wouldn't actually be a surprise coming from Pattinson; after all, he plays a perpetually sexually frustrated virgin vampire in "The Twilight Saga." Then again, he looked perfectly happy kissing his "Twilight" co-star Kristen Stewart at the premiere, so we just may never know.

Catherine Zeta-Jones: 'There Is No Need to Suffer Silently'

When Catherine Zeta-Jones received a recent diagnosis of bipolar II disorder, a mental illness marked by prolonged periods of depression alternating with episodes of mild mania, she didn't hesitate to step forward with the news.
"This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them," the actress, 41, tells PEOPLE in an exclusive statement in this week's cover story. "If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help."

In early April, the Oscar-winning wife of actor Michael Douglas, 66, and mom to son Dylan, 10, and daughter Carys, 8, checked in to Silver Hill Hospital, a mental-health facility in New Canaan, Conn.

Shaken by Douglas's battle with throat cancer, Zeta-Jones was privately struggling, a friend says. As Douglas recovered, Zeta-Jones didn't – and with her new movie, the romantic comedy Playing the Field, slated to start shooting in Louisiana, the actress realized she needed help in the face of mounting depression.

"The simple things would just seem overwhelming, like going out to dinner," says the close friend. "There was just a little piece of her chipped away. It was hard to watch because I knew how hard she was trying."

Gwyneth Paltrow's Butt Requires Lot of Work

GWYNETH Paltrow says the hardest part of her body to keep looking good is her butt.
The Country Strong star works out almost every day to stay in shape, and when she first started getting serious about exercise and healthy eating her trainer Tracy Anderson told she needed to change her “square” derriere.
“My butt! My butt, butt, butt,” Gwyneth told Self magazine. “When Tracy met me, she said that I had a long, square butt that she was going to redesign, and I was like, ‘Yeah? Good luck.’ The amazing thing is, she was right! And it’s still changing!”
The 38-year-old actress — who has children Apple, six, and Moses, five, with her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin — insists the secret to staying slim is finding a fitness and diet regime that works for you and can be maintained.
And Gwyneth is adamant it’s important to allow yourself occasional indulgences otherwise you get bored.
“I do 45 minutes of cardio five days a week, because I like to eat. I also try for 45 minutes of muscular structure work, which is toning, realigning and lengthening. If I’m prepping for something or I’ve been eating a lot of pie, I do two hours a day, six days a week for two weeks,” she said.
“I say I always eat right, but the other night I had fried clams, pasta with duck sausage and two glasses of red wine. When I want to lose, I eat less pasta, bread and potatoes.”

“It’s exciting to start branching out, having just done Potter for ten years,” she explained.
“I’m making a film in May which I’m really excited about, which is set in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I’ll be doing an American accent which will be a challenge. But it’s nice just to do something different.”

Desperate Catherine Zeta Jones dashed to Wales to get help from her family, days before checking into clinic

After her startling admission that she checked into a clinic to be treated for bipolar disorder last week, it now emerges that Catherine Zeta-Jones had flown to Wales days before to beg her family for help over her deteriorating mental health.
A family friend says the Hollywood actress went to see her parents Patricia and David in the Mumbles area of Swansea last week for two days. They flew back to New York with her, and are staying on to ‘help look after the children and to maintain some sense of normality’, the friend adds.
Having been treated, the star is said to be back on ‘top form’ and is throwing herself into her work to get over the episode.
She has told producers of her latest film – a comedy starring Gerard Butler called Playing The Field in which she plays a ‘soccer mom’ – she will be available this week, a matter of days after she left the clinic.
Production is already under way in Louisiana and Miss Zeta-Jones would have to ensure she was able to travel in order to keep her part. So it will help to have her parents in the U.S. to look after her two children with Michael Douglas: son Dylan, ten, and daughter Carys, seven.
Julia Lamb, of mental health charity Mind, says the support of family members is ‘very important’ to recover from bipolar disorder, adding: ‘It does depend on the individual but when you develop the condition due to a stressful situation symptoms can include hallucinations and hearing voices.
‘Some people could have one or two episodes and move on with their life while others will find they struggle to do everyday things and it becomes something that has to be managed.’

Silver Hill Hospital, the psychiatric hospital where Miss Zeta-Jones has just spent five days, is set in 45 acres of the finest American countryside in New Canaan, Connecticut.
Outside there are tennis courts and woodland walks; inside are huge fireplaces, polished wooden floors and old, faded Persian rugs.
For £770 a night, patients have four-poster beds with wonderful Egyptian cotton sheets and their own bathrooms. There’s a maid service and a spectacular, old-fashioned dining room with waitresses that serve the evening meals.
A friend of mine who spent a year at Silver Hill says: ‘It’s not like any other psychiatric hospital in the world. It’s like staying in a very nice hotel – four stars at least – where everyone is very polite to you. And they hand out the medication.’
Those who have been treated there include Michael Jackson, Liza Minnelli and Mariah Carey.

It is, then, just the place where you might expect to find someone like Miss Zeta-Jones, who has gone from being a stage-struck girl in Swansea to the Hollywood princess who in 2003 famously declared of her and her husband: ‘A million dollars is not a lot of money for people like us.’
She admitted herself to the clinic on Wednesday last week under the pseudonym Terrie Kirny. Douglas was with her and apparently she was visibly upset when checking in.
Her publicist CeCe York said that she was treated for ‘bipolar II disorder’ – a mild version of the bipolar disorder that has recently ravaged Charlie Sheen. It seems the condition was sparked by Douglas’ battle with throat cancer.
But there are whispers about her breakdown. For isn’t a mere five-day stay in a world-famous rehab clinic a rather eccentric way to treat a long-term depressive condition?

People who have been treated at Silver Hill say that the paperwork and complicated process of admission means it can take an entire day just to check in.
What treatment might she effectively receive in just four days, then, especially since the drugs used to treat such depressive illnesses take between four weeks and three months to become effective? During her stay, Miss Zeta-Jones reportedly even went jogging around the grounds and joined her fellow patients for post-dinner games of poker, which doesn’t exactly suggest any intensive programme of treatment.
Dr Keith Ablow, a prominent U.S. psychiatrist, says bipolar II features serial depressive episodes and some occasional ‘highs’.
In his opinion, if the actress is suffering from the condition, she will have been living with it for most of her life, and will probably have been taking medication for many years.
In which case, what use a short stay to treat a condition which is usually controlled by drugs and therapy on an out-patient basis?
It would usually be a perfect period to recover from, say, an overdose, or to undergo a detox from drugs or alcohol. All such suggestions are categorically denied by Miss Zeta-Jones’s representatives.
What is certain is that her new film role must be seen as too good an opportunity to miss, and a chance for her to reclaim what was a stellar career. Since she won an Oscar in 2003 for Chicago she has starred in no major hit, and at 41 is an awkward age in Hollywood: too old to be the romantic lead, too young to be a grande dame.

In 2009 she moved her family from Bermuda to New York in a bid to stave off a slide to professional oblivion, accepting an offer to appear for the first time on Broadway – in a revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical A Little Night Music.
Since then, even before Douglas was diagnosed with throat cancer last August, there have been signs of trouble in the gilded life of Catherine The Great.
Take, for instance, her extreme weight loss last spring. She said it was due to a strict exercise schedule ahead of her Broadway role.
Some, however, speculated that she was on a ‘heartbreak diet’ caused by a rough patch in her marriage.
Around this time, Douglas quipped on U.S. TV that the couple weren’t sleeping together – a potential problem for one who is a self-confessed sex addict.
Six months went by in 2009 without them even being sighted as a couple. It was rather a surprise, then, suddenly to be presented with pictures of her cavorting  fully nude in Allure magazine  last spring.
Why on earth was she behaving like another fame-hungry floozy?

In retrospect those pictures of her – lying on suggestively rumpled sheets wearing nothing more  than big hair and a come-hither expression – suggested there was trouble in this particular paradise.
Where not so long ago she had the dignity of a Park Avenue princess, suddenly she was uninhibited to the point of appearing desperate and embarrassing.
Last summer, eyebrows were raised once again. On stage to win a Tony award for her role in the Sondheim musical, she waved at Douglas and yelled: ‘See that man over there? He is a movie star and I get to sleep with him every night!’
As a speech it was breathtakingly crass – crude even. One present noted that she was sweating  heavily and seemed almost disorientated.

Only a few weeks later, performing her final night on Broadway, she seemed distinctly off-kilter – slurring through a speech. She had earlier missed several shows after falling sick with a virus. If she was indeed out of sorts, she had little time to recover. The bombshell of Douglas’s cancer diagnosis came only a few weeks after she finished in the show.
As he began radiotherapy in October, she said in an interview that she was struggling to cope with her husband being so unwell.
A source told the National Enquirer magazine: ‘She was chain smoking and drinking. It was tearing Catherine apart to see such a vital man as Michael in such a weakened state. I think she was crumbling.’
Certainly, she has long been an enthusiastic social drinker – and there is no indication that she stopped, even though her husband was banned from alcohol while undergoing radiotherapy. In January this year, Douglas completed his treatment, which he says has been successful.
The following month, the whole family travelled to Buckingham Palace, where she was awarded a CBE. Life seemed quite perfect.
We now know that, under the surface, their troubles were not  yet over. But then, as any actress will attest, a perfect smile and a slick of make-up can hide almost anything.
Additional reporting by Daniel Bates and Simon Cable.
